Hatha Yoga is a practice that goes back 5000 years. The practice and successful embodiment of Yoga has the potential to induce a state of equilibrium to the body, mind, and emotions. Yoga is based on a profound knowledge of human nature. Our classes focus on:

Asana - physical postures to improve the health and well-being of the body and to prepare the student for breathing practices.

Pranayama -- breathing practices link the body and mind and prepare the student for the experience of inner peace and concentration.

What can Yoga do for me if I am happy and a healthy person. ?

The potential to feel better never ends because there are ever-deepening levels of contentment and health. We have found that through studying Yoga people begin to view the world in a different way. Positive aspects of living flourish and a more focused, relaxed, and concentrated mind evolves naturally.

How can Yoga help me de-stress?

Physical and emotional tension manifests in the body as aches and pains, lack of energy, and negative emotions. Physical postures help to ease away tensions and balance the muscular system to bring more poise and relaxation. Breathing practices bring on positive feelings and a feeling of inner peace. Concentration practices help us to see our lives and possibilities more clearly.

How can Yoga improve my health?

The physical postures sequentially bring improved range of motion, strength, and stability to the body and mind. The nervous system learns to understand movement in a variety of settings which prepare us to adapt better to the world around us. Asana, in combination with breathing and concentration practices, can lead to improved intellectual functioning, encourage positive feelings about our bodies, and assist us to make positive changes in our lives.
