How many Hindu gods are there and Please explain about them. who is the supreme god among them and why is he said to be supreme among all ?
There is no fixed number and the answer varies from sect to sect. Same for Supreme Being. Saivas see Siva as Supreme, Shaktas sees some feminine form as Supreme, Vaishnavites see Vishnu or one of His avatara as supreme, and Smartas can pick whomever they want.
I'm not sure, but I think 33 million devas is some obscure verse in the Vedas. It was certainly never intended as reality, but other faith systems, especially the ones that are critical of everything but their own, use it as something against Hinduism. So I think that's how it became so common ... just being requoted a lot.
Hindu Gods? Really! is God is divided into religion, races\, country or Culture? is there really Hindu Gods, Muslim gods, Christian Gods etc? Answer is certainly No. There is nothing like my God, your God, his God or their God. God is one, whether one called it Brahman, shiva or vishnu. Ishwar alone is omnipresent and manager of entire universe. He alone provides victory and eternal cause of world. All souls should look up only to Him in same manner as children look up to their Father. He alone provides for our sustenance and blis Rigveda 10.48.1
Basically there is only one supreme god known as energy (Adishakti) and all other forms created by adishakti. And it is beleived that there are 33 crore gods are there in Hinduism.
