    Namastey All,

    I ever wondered why is kite flying being done on Makar Sankranti? why is Tilgul exchanged on this day ?

    It is known that Surya Dev visits Lord Shani, his son who rules Makar Rashi (Capricon). On this day they both get well along and forget all bitterness.

    As per the scriptures in Mahabharata, Bhishma Pitamah leaves his body on this day. An individual who passes on this day attains Moksha (liberation).

    On this auspicious day King Bhagirath brought Gangra to Earth and helped 60,000 sons of Maharaj Sagar to attain Moksha.
